Thanks and Goodbye

Wow. Just wow. I'm blown away and rather emotional. Just had a chance to really read your lovely cards and look at my amazing gifts. I'm so very grateful and I've had the most amazing year with the children. I really hope I'm lucky enough to teach them again in the future.
And now....enjoy the summer!
Lots and lots of love xxx

Park Life

The challenge was to build a board game to demonstrate our understanding of how people impact on their local environment, both positively and negatively.
We engaged with the entire design process and drew on our knowledge and skills from through the year, including strengthening and stiffening structures, creating and using mechanisms and using technology for word processing.
We made prototypes, and then evaluated them, before beginning our first products. We then evaluated the appeal, durability and playability of these before starting again.

Cross Curricular Outcomes on a Friday Afternoon

Having worked really hard in our geography and English project over the past 3 weeks, we have begun to put together our final outcome. We are bringing together everything we have learned about how local environments are maintained and how parks are similar and different around the UK and abroad, using the design skills we learned during our work on bunting. We spent the morning evaluating a range of board games and analysing how they work, before moving on to our own prototype board games set in a local park. We are considering positive and negative actions which can impact the environment and giving them consequences to help players advance through the game.
