Swords and Spindles

A fantastic visit bringing the 1600s to life. The children learned about clothes, food, toys, weaponry and practised some pike drills before getting to watch an authentic 17th century musket fired!

Exploring Mindfulness

Debs came in to help us explore the link between mindfulness and harmony, to help us really understand how not paying attention can lead to conflict and how if we truly paid attention to ourselves and others, we would avoid conflict more.

Celebration of Achievement

STEM Day... firework safety

We looked at a range of gloves and considered how and why they were the same and different. We talked about materials, purposes and suitability. We investigated the properties of a range of materials, testing them for flexibility, their ability to hold a shape and heat resistance. Then we used what we learned to design products that could help a pyro-technician keep safe.. (Photos by AH) Some people designed gloves, some whole outfits and some people made boxes to keep the fireworks in.
All of this science and technology learning supported lots of discussion about how we can keep safe when fireworks are around. What a busy day!!
